what/how/who?
Aim: To design a product that will optimise the rejuvenating properties of sleep.
Scope: Sleeping cycle, physical elements involved with sleep (bed, pillow, etc), previous research, relevant products, experience.
Conclusion: Preliminary research shows that by changing/adjusting sleep habits we can greatly improve quality of sleep and therefore quality of day.
ABSTRACT:
Sleep is an intimate part of life; it is a daily ritual and a very personal experience, from our preparation to our dreams to our waking, our sleep is designed to prepare us for the day ahead, unfortunately some people are not very good designers. In today’s fast paced world, sleep seems a luxury, not a need but when you get the best out of your sleep, you get the best out of your day and your quality of life improves drastically. If we deprive ourselves of sleep, we disrupt our very delicate sleep cycles and our body clocks begin to tick to the wrong beat. Through implementing a system of sleep cycle prediction, our product aims to enhance this daily productivity, whether short or long it will provide you with the highest quality of sleep possible within that given time; helping those who struggle with their sleep wake up feeling rejuvenated and ready for their waking day.
Keywords: Sleep, sleep cycle, rejuvenation, quality, productivity

Great idea, I have no doubt of the market potential for such a product, any idea how the actual device/supplement/wizardry will work? Folks always bow to such words as 'herbal' and 'natural' and run from words such as 'electroshock therapy' and 'sleep chamber' in my (limited!) experience. Perhaps self hallucination or meditation to relax the mind before the sleep cycle begins? All contained within the pages of a handy publication...
If I may make a suggestion, perhaps what you might look into is not so much the quality of the 'waking life' as you put it, but the life that exists in the immateria, or dream world. You may have heard of the lucid dream state? The concept is quite simple, and you may well have experienced one yourself. They are the dreams in which one is not only self aware, but they are in total control of their actions and consciousness, even consequence. In some instances you are even in control of your environment and other dream participants and can bend it and them to your will. In short, the dream participant has full awareness that they are inside a dream.
The prospect is an attractive one, not only a strange and fascinating world of symbols and experience, but your own life is extended. No more does one fall unconscious for several hours while life goes by, but they lie down, their eyelids droop, and they enter their second life, one full of possibility and hope.
Perhaps designing a product that can train or assist folk in entering such a state could be an attractive prospect? I am aware of studies done in various disciplines across the medical and spiritual world that explore the possibility of assisted lucidity, might be worth a browse. If not for a project then even for interest, it certainly is a fascinating subject.
Good thoughts man
